PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Michael H. Lipe, 72, of Perryville died Friday, May 18, 2018, at his home.
He was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Cairo, Illinois, son of Claude E. and Vergie M. Foltz Lipe. He and Eva Fritz were married Feb. 14, 1970. She survives in Perryville.
He was retired owner/operator of Perryville Tire Center in Perryville. He was a member of VFW Post 4282 and American Legion Post 133. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict and was a paratrooper. He was awarded the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. Mike was an avid fisherman.
Other survivors include two sons and two daughters, Benjamin M. (Theresa) Lipe of Perryville, Renee M. McMahill of Perryville, Cheryl A. (Moustafa) Shabayek of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Patrick A. (Jamie) Lipe of Farmington, Missouri; four brothers and three sisters, Lonnie Lipe of St. Clair, Missouri, Brenda Orick of Union, Missouri, Claudia Chumley of Belleville, Illinois, David Lipe of Peoria, Illinois, Wayne Lipe of Patton, Missouri, Pamalia Holt of Decatur, Illinois, and Edward Lipe of Tamms, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Alexander, Johnathan, Andrew, Megan, Genevieve, Brea, Braden, Marissa, Claire, Zain, Kenzie, Adelyn and Eva; and two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Cantlon and Gerry Keesee; and one brother, Richard Lipe.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. Military graveside honors will be provided by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team. Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Perryville Veterans Memorial.
