Michael Maurice Herwig, 63, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at his home.
He was born Sept. 16, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Maurice Vincent and Oma Lee Mabrey Herwig.
He and Janice Miller were married, and to this union two children were born.
Michael was a graduate of Ritenour High School in St. Louis.
He worked several years as a self-employed computer programmer in the St. Louis area.
He was proud to have been a Boy Scout and had attained Eagle Scout.
Michael enjoyed playing the guitar and had a love for music and family.
Loving survivors include two children, a daughter, Jessica Herwig, and a son, Joshua (Amanda) Herwig of Farmington, Missouri; two grandchildren, Annie and Justin Herwig; a sister, Carolyn Helderman of Whitewater; his former wife, Janice Miller of Farmington; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Shannon Skinner and Joseph Kelly co-officiating.
Interment will follow in Stroderville Cemetery in Whitewater.
