Michael W. Ford, 71, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at his home. He was born Oct. 28, 1949, to Amos and Vella Kraust Ford in Cape Girardeau. Michael W. Ford, 71, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at his home.

He was born Oct. 28, 1949, to Amos and Vella Kraust Ford in Cape Girardeau. Michael married Judy Farrow on Nov, 17, 1986, and she survives.

Michael worked for many years in the petroleum industry. He retired from Mid South Petroleum and previously had worked for Vicar and Pete Cutsinger.

Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a mechanic, served on the Fort Lewis Funeral Detail Team and was a former member of the American Veterans Association.

He was the first president of the East Cape County Volunteer Fire Department. Michael also loved music and was the bass player in the band, "The Beer Powered Jukebox."

Besides his wife, survivors include his two daughters, Penny (Allen) Smith and Easton Meyer; three sons, Doug Ford, Dwayne Ford and Gabe (Whitley) Ford; two brothers, Steve and Jeff Ford; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tim Ford.

A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A brief service will follow with the Rev. Wavis Jordan officiating. The service will conclude with military honors at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please send donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
