Meta Meyer, 94, now resting in the arms of Jesus, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo. She has resided in St. Louis the past two years to be near her daughter. Meta was born April 13, 1917, in New Wells, to Fred and Lina Gerler Kahnert. She and Edgar O. Meyer were married June 11, 1939, in New Wells. They had been married 57 years when he passed away July 6, 1996...

Meta Meyer, 94, now resting in the arms of Jesus, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo. She has resided in St. Louis the past two years to be near her daughter.

Meta was born April 13, 1917, in New Wells, to Fred and Lina Gerler Kahnert. She and Edgar O. Meyer were married June 11, 1939, in New Wells. They had been married 57 years when he passed away July 6, 1996.

She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

She was a loving mother, and worked side-by-side with Edgar on their farm north of New Wells. She even continued to work the farm after his passing.

Loving survivors include three children, Dorothy (Donald) McCutchen of St. Louis, Norman (Carol) Meyer of Louisville, Ky., and Carolyn (Robert) Krejci of Saratoga Springs, Utah; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; three siblings, Rosa Hemmann of Frohna, Mo., Melva Rauss of Perryville, Mo., and Otto (Lorna) Kahnert of Medford, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two infant brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and from 10 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Walter Patzwitz officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, Lutheran Hour Ministries, or Lutheran Family and Children's Services.
