Merle Price, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, May 15, 2003, at Chateau Health Center.
Merle was born Feb. 25, 1910, near Crosstown, Mo., daughter of Robert H. and Beulah Young Dempster. She and Irl Price were married Dec. 7, 1926. He passed away Dec. 28, 1961.
A resident of Perry County, Mo., for many years, she was a housekeeper at Perry County Memorial Hospital when it first opened and later worked as a salesclerk at Wilson's 5 & 10 Store.
After she moved to Cape Girardeau in 1966, she worked in housekeeping at Southeast Missouri Hospital until she retired.
After retirement she became one of the first residents at Chateau Girardeau. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert S. and Velda Price of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Anna L. Price of Bozeman, Mont.; three grandchildren, Sheila Smith of Cape Girardeau, Roberta Kelly of Perryville, Mo., Ronald L. Price of Roswell, N.M.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joel Herbert officiating. Burial will be in Brazeau Presbyterian Cemetery.
