CAIRO, Ill. -- Mena H. Kessler, 92, of Cairo, died Friday, Dec. 2, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 24, 1902, in Cape Girardeau County, the daughter of Charley and Nora Belle Foster Deimund. On July 3, 1924, she married Arthur John Kessler in Cairo. He preceded her in death in 1960.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cairo, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the Pulaski-Alexander Counties Farm Bureau and the Queen Hester M. Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She had attended Brown's Business College and Normal School in Carbondale.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Ann Smith of Cairo and Sharon Kay Fulcher of Villa Ridge; a brother, Charles "Bill" Deimund of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Marie Titmas of Kingsburg, Calif., and Gladys D. East of Hawaii; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and an infant brother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cairo with Pastor William Voss officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
