JONESBORO, Ill. -- Melvin Skelton, 80, of Jonesboro died at Friday, July 11, 2003, at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1922, at Vienna, Ill., son of Charles L. and Gladys Effa Mitchell Skelton. He and Sarah M. Fischer were married Apr. 10, 1953. She died Feb. 5, 1994. He and Amie Kingery were married Feb. 15, 2002...

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Melvin Skelton, 80, of Jonesboro died at Friday, July 11, 2003, at his home.

He was born Sept. 11, 1922, at Vienna, Ill., son of Charles L. and Gladys Effa Mitchell Skelton. He and Sarah M. Fischer were married Apr. 10, 1953. She died Feb. 5, 1994. He and Amie Kingery were married Feb. 15, 2002.

Skelton was a member of First Christian Church in Anna. He was an amateur ham radio operator and a member of SARA American Radio Association and the Mount Ava Repeater Association.

He retired as a piano tuner with Wurlitzer in Chicago and had worked at Blind Weavers Association in Chicago. He was a graduate of the Illinois Visual Handicapped Institute and a two-time graduate of the Leader Guide Dog School.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Benny Skelton of Jonesboro, Phillip Skelton and Don Skelton, both of Anna, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and two sisters.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Derrill Schroth officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
