PATTON, Mo. -- Melvin Edwin Mudge, 85, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at his home in Patton.
He was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Mine La Motte, Mo., son of Renford and Martina Trousdale Mudge. He and Dorothy Freeland were married Oct. 27, 1946, in Fredericktown, Mo.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmo Mudge; and a sister, Alvina Mudge Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Charles (Joan) Mudge of Perryville, Mo., Gerald (Brenda) Mudge of Jackson and Neal (Susan) Mudge of Troy, Mo.; two sisters, Anita (Ray) Bowers of Dittmer, Mo., and Nelda (Melvin) Ballew of Farmington, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Melvin was a member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at Follis and Sons Funeral Home in Fredericktown.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Reverends Bryan Mills and Don Estes officiating. Interment will be in Christian Cemetery.
