SIKESTON -- Melvin Marion Johnson, 80, of Sikeston died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Mississippi, son of Charlie and Annie bell Johnson.
He lived in Missouri more than 50 years and was retired as an employee of the city of Sikeston.
He is survived by a son, Larry Johnson of Sikeston; four daughters, Elizabeth Simmon of Kansas City, Marsann Smith, Regina Sanders and Rose M. Johnson, all of Sikeston; two brothers, John Johnson of Benton Harbor, Mich., and Preston Johnson of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Ruth Bends and Katie Johnson, both of St. Louis; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Margaret Bratcher.
Service will be at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston Tuesday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Flem E. Bronner Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Sunset of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
The Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home at Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call Tuesday at the church in Sikeston from 11 a.m. to service time.
