CAIRO, Ill. -- Melvin L. "Dutch" Craver, 84, of Cairo died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 1995, at Community Health Services in Cairo.
He was born in Dongola, Ill., on Jan. 7, 1911, to Samuel and Cleta Reinhart Craver.
He was a gas foreman for the Cairo Public Utility Commission, where he worked for 30 years before retirement. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Craver, in 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Eleanor "Tootie" Newton of Cairo and Elizabeth Gail Wong of Arcadia, Calif.; a son, John W. Carver of Alton, Ill.; two sisters, Marcella Wolf of West Frankfort, Ill., and Virginia Thompson of St. Louis; a brother, Harold Craver of New Port Richie, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Friday. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. William O. Voss officiating. Burial will follow at the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola.
