ORAN, Mo. -- The funeral for Melvin Joseph Eftink of Oran will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church. The Rev. John Harth will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 5 p.m. Thursday. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Eftink, 59, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at his home.

He was born May 23, 1943, at Oran, son of Leo and Josephine Jansen Eftink. He and Janis Lynn Sanders were married Sept. 3, 1965.

Eftink was a machine operator at Superior Essex in Sikeston, Mo. He was a member of Guardian Angel Church and St. Joseph Sodality.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel Eftink of Honolulu, Hawaii; three daughters, Teresa Black of O'Fallon, Ill., Lisa Eftink of Sullivan, Mo., Cathy Blankenship of Oran; three brothers, Larry Eftink of Oran, John and Donnie Eftink of Sikeston; five sisters, Janie Skinner and Sue Clymer of Scott City, Mo., Sherry Veal of Cape Girardeau, Judy Littleton of Texarkana, Texas, Kim Black of Benton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
