Melvin Edwin Ruebel, 77, of the Missouri Veterans Home, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 1994, at John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 3, 1917, in Whitewater, son of Reinhold and Ida Lydia Fisher Ruebel. He and Bessie Viola Moore were married Aug. 27, 1941, at Whitewater.
Ruebel was a Diesel mechanic at Harris Truck and Trailer 20 years, retiring in 1975. He served with the U.S. Army in the African Campaign during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Melvin and Donald Ruebel of Ocean Springs, Miss., Lee and Roger Ruebel of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Pat Alexander of Meridian, Idaho, Phillis McLain of Cape Girardeau, Debbie Hudson of St. Louis, Sandy Abernathy of Chester, Ill.; two brothers, Stanley Ruebel of Ocean Springs, Richard Ruebel of Marquand; 22 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Alan Berry officiating. Burial will be in Caney Fork Cemetery near Oak Ridge.
