PERRYVILLE -- Melvin C. Parks, 65, of Perryville died Saturday, Jan. 8, 1994, at Vencor Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born May 1, 1928 in Granite City, Ill., son of Thomas and Maudie Farrell Parks.

He was a boiler operator at Granite City Steel and worked part time at the Amoco station in Perryville.

He married Betty M. Kofahl on Sept. 12, 1946. She survives of Perryville.

Also surviving are two sons, James Allen Parks of Rockford, Ill., and Thomas Charles Parks of Wood River, Ill.; one daughter, Mary Ellen Webb of Perryville; one brother, Clifford "Bud" Parks of Granite City; one sister, Verna Rubenhausen of Granite City; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Five brothers preceded him in death.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Perryville.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Chapel in Perryville from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 6:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Ron Brand officiating. Burial will be in the Home Cemetery.
