CHAFFEE -- Melvin Eugene Bonds, 54, of Marion, Ill., died Friday, May 31, 1996, at his home. He was born May 17, 1942, at Randles, son of John H. and Rosey E. Breese Bonds. CHAFFEE -- Melvin Eugene Bonds, 54, of Marion, Ill., died Friday, May 31, 1996, at his home.

He was born May 17, 1942, at Randles, son of John H. and Rosey E. Breese Bonds. He and Wilma Kincade were married Feb. 20, 1959, at Arbor.

Bonds was a retired assembly line packer with General Foods in Kankakee, Ill. He moved to Marion four years ago from Bradley, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve Bonds of Bradley, Johney Bonds of Marion; five daughters, Debbie Terrell of Marion, Darla Chaplanski of Bradley, Connie Chaplanski of Bourbonnais, Ill., Teresa Held of Kankakee, Angela Hall of Watseka, Ill.; three brothers, Henry Bonds of Bourbonnais, Cecil Bonds of Las Vegas, Nev., Billie Bonds of Goreville, Ill.; four sisters, Ethel Hanners of Bourbonnais, Pauline Mobley Stevens of Cape Girardeau, Dorothy James of Pocahontas, Ossie Enders of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, brother and sister.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee from 5-9 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Daniel Hanners officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery near Arbor.
