Melissa Ann Deevers, 40, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Dec. 4, 1969, in Cape Girardeau, to George and Pat Wilson Bockhorst. She and James Deevers were married March 24, 1990, at Red Star Baptist Church.

Melissa was a graduate of Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University. She was a sixth-grade teacher five years at Central Middle School, after having worked for her family's business, Armor Mini Storage, several years.

She was an avid Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan and a member of Lynwood Baptist Church and Missouri State Teachers Association.

Survivors include her husband, James Deevers; a son, Luke Deevers; two daughters, Hannah and Regan Deevers; her parents, George Bockhorst and Pat Bockhorst; and a brother, Tim (Amber) Bockhorst, all of Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lynwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
