MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Melba June York, 71, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Blanchette Place Care Center in St. Charles, Mo. She was born June 25, 1933, at Dongola, Mo., daughter of Oliver and Demetrius Harris Martin. She and Norman Eugene York were married March 25, 1958. He died Feb. 21, 2003...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Melba June York, 71, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Blanchette Place Care Center in St. Charles, Mo.

She was born June 25, 1933, at Dongola, Mo., daughter of Oliver and Demetrius Harris Martin. She and Norman Eugene York were married March 25, 1958. He died Feb. 21, 2003.

Mrs. York was a graduate of Missouri School for the Deaf at Fulton. She had been a kitchen aide at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

Survivors include a sister, Debbie Boner of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, Paul Shell of Houston, Texas; her stepfather, Cecil Shell of Little Rock; a nephew, Danny Berjac of Seattle, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Myrna Cheek of Morley, Mo.; and two brothers-in-law, Edward York of Benton, Mo., and Robert York of Glenallen, Mo.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Delbert Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wade Amelung, Earl Cheek, Edward and Robert York, Bob Anderson and Danny Berjac.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Missouri School for the Deaf.
