Melba C. Myers, 80, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at John Knox Village Care Center in Kansas City. She was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Zalma, Mo., daughter of Harley W. and Clessie M. White Myers. Melba taught school for seven years in Malden, Mo., four years in Jackson and 26 years in Cape Girardeau, with most of those years as a Spanish teacher. ...

Melba C. Myers, 80, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at John Knox Village Care Center in Kansas City.

She was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Zalma, Mo., daughter of Harley W. and Clessie M. White Myers.

Melba taught school for seven years in Malden, Mo., four years in Jackson and 26 years in Cape Girardeau, with most of those years as a Spanish teacher. After retirement she worked part time at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. She was a life member of the NEA and MSTA. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and the Cathedral Ladies.

Survivors include three nieces, Jill Ross Hartzler of Kansas City, Deborah Ross of Middletown, Conn., and Laura Ross of Kansas City; and a nephew, Capt. Mark L. Ross of Crestview, Fla.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation or to the Cape Girardeau Public Library.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
