Melba Rose F. Allen, 73, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Tilsit, daughter of the late Otto and Marie Best Fluegge.
Melba was a 1949 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked a number of years at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill and the former Lowenbaum Dress Factory. She went to work at the Lutheran Home in 1976, and retired in 2004 as a certified dietary manager.
She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, and in 1971 transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include two sisters, Dorothy (Richard) Poston of Jackson, Shirley (Charles) Childers of Thebes, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Melvin Biester of Jackson; eight nieces and nephews, Ronald Biester, Larry Biester, Deborah Blankenship, Karen Bergfeld, Cheryl Childers, Diane Prater, Michael Poston, David Poston; 11 great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Biester.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, or the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
