M.D. AUSTIN SR.

MILLERSVILLE -- Funeral service for M.D. Austin Sr. of Edwards, Ill., will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Methodist Church near here. Jack Byrd will officiate, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

Austin, 70 years old, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 1991, at the home of a daughter in Edwards.

He was born Aug. 26, 1912, at Millersville, son of Leo and Vesta Crites Austin. He and the former Dora Slinkard were married Dec. 20, 1932, in Cape Girardeau. She died March 21, 1985.

Austin was a self-employed painting contractor in the Edwards area many years. He attended Town and Country Baptist Church at Dunlap, Ill.

Survivors include two daughters, Naomi Mills of Edwards, Juanita Finnegan of Acton, Calif.; two sons, M.D. Austin Jr. of Henry, Ill., David Austin of Princeville, Ill.; a sister, Beulah Propst of Sedgewickville; 16 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons, four brothers, a sister, and two grandchildren.
