SIKESTON -- Mayme Jean Poage, 85, of Plant City, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at her home. She was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Sikeston, daughter of James Gay and Madeline Russell Wilbur Harvey. SIKESTON -- Mayme Jean Poage, 85, of Plant City, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at her home.

She was born Nov. 29, 1914, in Sikeston, daughter of James Gay and Madeline Russell Wilbur Harvey. She married Elmer B. Poage, who died Nov. 28, 1981.

Poage had been a member and organist at First Presbyterian Church. She received awards for civic work from the Chamber of Commerce and USO.

She was past district deputy of 50th District of Missouri Order of Eastern Star, past matron of Sikeston Chapter 137 OES, past grand organist with Grand Chapter Missouri OES, and past regent and member of Echebucsassa Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution. She had lived in Florida since 1983.

Survivors include a brother, Pat Wilbur of Plant City.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston after noon Wednesday.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Bass officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
