Maxine J. Jaco Smith went home to be with her heavenly father Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at the age of 87.

She was born June 27, 1932, to the late Max and Florence Conrad Jaco in Jackson.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred Jaco, and sister-in-law, Rose Jaco.

Maxine attended Fulton School for the Deaf in Fulton, Missouri, until the fifth grade, then moved to St. Louis and attended Gallaudet School for the Deaf.

The loving mother of Robert Smith, Gary (Regina) Smith, Dan (Tom Skinner) Smith, Sheila (Mike) Wright, Sue Smith and Kevin (Alberta) Smith; loving grandmother of 13; and great-grandmother to many.

Maxine cleaned offices and homes, and worked at Famous Barr sewing drapes. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting angels, doing assorted types of crafts and playing bingo with the deaf community.

She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with them.

She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for the Deaf.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at McLaughlin Funeral Home Inc, 2301 Lafayette Ave. in St. Louis.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Crossroads United Methodist Cemetery in Sedgewickville, Missouri.
