W. Maxine Friedrich, 87, of Jackson passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 12, 1929, to Ralph and Beulah "Babe" Austin Webb. She and Paul Ray Friedrich were married March 25, 1950, at the parsonage of St. John's United Church of Christ near Jackson. Six children were born to their union.
Maxine was a 1947 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. She briefly worked at the former hosiery mill in Jackson. When she and Paul Ray started their family, Maxine fully dedicated her time to her family and their farm.
She was a longtime member of St. John's United Church of Christ and was active in the Women's Fellowship Group.
In addition to being well known for her cooking, she was a member of the former Byrds Creek Homemakers Club and bowled over 30 years with the Coffee Drinker's League at Jackson Lanes.
She was an avid gardener, and for many years she enjoyed monthly "Coffee Clatch" meetings with three of her dearest high-school friends.
Loving survivors include her husband of 67 years, Paul Ray Friedrich of Jackson; six children, Paula Friedrich of Cape Girardeau, Gail (Gary) Kamp of Burfordville, Randy (Yvonne) Friedrich of Jackson, Patti (Ronnie) Asher of Jackson, Sandra Friedrich of Fort Myers, Florida, and Tammy (Jim) Mueller of Jackson: 10 grandchildren, Laura (Kris) Daniel, Renee Asher, Ryan (Whitney) Asher, Chris and Cassie Kamp, Kent and Alex Friedrich, Erin and Kyle Bise and Chase Mueller; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Greyson Daniel and Adley Asher; a sister, Lucille (the late Marshall) Moser of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two stepbrothers, Dale (Mary) Propst Jr. and Carroll Wayne (Judy) Propst; a sister-in-law, Beverly Friedrich of St. Louis; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mildred "Billie" (Walter) Surface; a stepsister, Mildred (Floyd) Besher; and a brother-in-law, Doug Friedrich.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Chapel A of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dave Schaffner officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John's United Church of Christ or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
