Maxine E. Cooke, 86, of Jackson died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 3, 1928, in St. James, Missouri, to Charles and Clara Mathena Devoy. She and Charlie Cooke were married Oct. 18, 1945, at St. Louis. He died Oct. 24, 2008.

Maxine and Charlie owned and operated a service station in Cuba, Missouri. She later was a real estate agent in St. Louis. She had a degree in interior decorating. She enjoyed golf, family and her husband Cookie's car racing.

She was an honorary member of St. Louis Real Estate and Missouri Real Estate Association. She did volunteer work at St. John's Mercy Medical Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Sue (Mike) Seyer of Cape Girardeau and Patricia Gail Nelson of Jackson; six grandchildren Nathan (Tauni) Seyer, Myra (Rob) Griffin, Jonathan Seyer, Jennifer Nelson, Jessica Nelson and Jordan Nelson; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a granddaughter, Wendy Seyer; a brother killed in World War II; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
