Graveside service for Max Mitchell of Lanett, Ala., was held Sunday at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, with the Revs. Stephen Stringer and Ron Ames officiating.
Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, Ala., was in charge of arrangements.
Mitchell, 71, died Saturday, July 22, 1995, at Lanier Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1924, in Dyersburg, Tenn., son of Hugh and Roxie Henson Mitchell.
Mitchell was a former manager of The General Tyler Hotel in West Point, Ga., Sun and Sand in Biloxi, Miss., and had been manager of environmental services at Lanier Hospital. He was a member of Sunset Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; a son, Maxie Mitchell of Lanett; a daughter, Mitzi Ames of Conyers, Ga.; two sisters, Marabelle Sams of Gulfport, Miss., Bettie Gunn of Cape Girardeau; a half brother, Diamond Blakeney of Gulfport, and three grandchildren.
