SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Maurice M. Armstrong was held Saturday at Crews-Welsh and Ponder Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles E. Buck officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Armstrong, 78, of Sikeston, died July 1, 1992, in Nashville, Tenn., where he had lived with his son since March.
He was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Vanduser, son of Rueben and Ethel Smith Armstrong.
Armstrong was a longtime merchant in Sikeston. He owned Armstrong Home Appliance and was past president of the Sikeston Chamber of Commerce.
He attended high school at Vanduser and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
His wife, Virginia Burke Armstrong, died on Aug. 13, 1991.
Survivors are his son, Bill Maurice Armstrong, Nashville; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
