MOUNDS, Ill. -- Maurice James Brown, 73, of Cache, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1993, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Allen Park, Mich.
He was born Jan. 23, 1920 in Carlisle County, Ky., son of Ila Thurman and Shellie Lucille Deckard Brown.
He was a truck driver. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Mounds.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Brown. She died on Sept. 6, 1975.
Surviving are five daughters, Frances L. Wallace of Rochester, Mich., Olivia A. Nigison, Mary Jane Daniels and Shelia Krause, all from Warren, Mich., and Betty Authier of Royal Oak, Mich.; two sons, Dennis Brown of Galion, Ohio, and Michael D. Brown of Warren, Mich.; one sister, Mary Ruth Youngblood of Mounds; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill., with the Rev. Ernest Browning and the Rev. William Winters officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski, Ill.
Full military honors will be given at the graveside by VFW Post No. 8891 of Mounds.
Friends may call between 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
