Maudie Schmitt

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Maudie Louise Schmitt, 92, of Chaffee passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born Sept. 14, 1923, in Zalma, Missouri, to the late Robert and Blanche Knupp Biby. She married Linus Schmitt on Oct. 31, 1942, and he preceded her in death Dec. 5, 1976.

Maudie was a retired sewing machine operator for Thorngate Ltd. in Chaffee. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee and the Daughters of St. Ambrose.

Survivors include two sons, Cletus and Donald Leo Schmitt, both of Chaffee; a sister, Myrtle Slack of Chaffee; and a grandchild.

She also was preceded in death by a son, a sister and a brother.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Ambrose Catholic Church Cemetery.
