MAUDE SMITH

Maude E. Smith, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born July 30, 1908, in White County, Ill., daughter of Luther Clark and Nellie Mae Taylor Creek. She and Clarence S. Smith were married July 28, 1929.

Formerly of Carbondale, Ill., Smith was a charter and former member of University Baptist Church, and taught Sunday School many years.

She and her husband have resided at Chateau Girardeau since 1979. She was a member of Cape Bible Chapel.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jo Ann Flanigan of Murphysboro, Ill., Marilyn Patton of Carbondale; a son, Clarence Smith of Sun City Center, Fla.; a sister, Evelene Forkum of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel in Murphysboro from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with Hal Greene officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro.
