SIKESTON, Mo. -- Maude Ellen Skelton, 85, of Sikeston died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at her home.
She was born May 6, 1923, in Advance, Mo., daughter of Frank and Laura Poole Barker. She and John Skelton Jr. were married June 11, 1939. He died Sept. 18, 1988.
Skelton was formerly of Charleston, Mo., and was employed by Charleston School District many years. She then worked with her husband at Auto Tire and Parts in Charleston until retiring.
Survivors include three sons, Bob Skelton of Charleston, Bill Skelton of Scott City, Nathan Skelton of Sikeston; two daughters, Jean Ann McReynolds of Sikeston, Debbie Ray of Benton, Mo.; two sisters, Maxine Jennings of Dexter, Mo., Norma Sitzes of Searcy, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, three brothers and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Charleston.
