SWINTON, Mo. -- Maude Dalton, 99, of California, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at California Care Center.
She was born Oct. 2, 1909, near Swinton, daughter of Claude and Pearl Frye Cox. She and Lee Dalton were married Oct. 2, 1929. He preceded her in death March 8, 1998.
Maude assisted her husband in the Sturdivant General Store and was assistant postmaster from 1936 to 1963. She was a member of Swinton Christian Church. She was a member of Zalma Order of Eastern Star more than 50 years, and served as worthy matron five times and as a grand representative to the state of Maine.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Riley of McGirk, Mo.; four grandchildren, Susan (Kenneth) Asher of Columbia, Mo., Keith (Tammy) Riley of Columbus, Neb., Kent (Jennifer) Riley of McGirk, Jill (John) Darwent of Clark, Mo.; several great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lloyd and Warren Cox of Burley, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Lloyd (Mickey) Dalton; four brothers, Harley, Eugene, Cleatie and Dorsey Lee Cox.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Mo.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Capps officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
