SIKESTON -- Mattie Lou Washer, 83, of Sikeston died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Perry County, Tenn., daughter of Monroe and Minnie Kelley Barber. She and Charles Pope Washer were married Oct. 10, 1939. He died Aug. 7, 1961.
Washer had lived at Charleston most of her life. She had been a cook at Charleston Manor. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Cairo, Ill.
Survivors include four sons, Donald Patterson of Sacramento, Calif., Harvey Washer of Sikeston, Doug Washer of Independence, Jerry Washer of Charleston; a daughter, Connie Damron of Thebes, Ill.; a brother, Elmer Vinson of Charleston; two sisters, Stella Flint of Quinlan, Texas, Ardella Mathis of Charleston; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Bill Gholson will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
