CHARLESTON -- Mattie L. Thomas, 74, of Charleston, died Wednesday, March 31, 1993, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born March 27, 1919 in Tupelo, Miss., daughter of John and Peggy Ann Baker.
She was married to Willie Currie in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1962. She then married Alex Thomas. He preceded her in death.
Thomas and her husband previously operated Alex's Used Clothing store.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary McClain of Landover, Md.; three grandsons; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and eight sisters.
Service will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Shelby Funeral Home chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Wiley Reed, pastor of the St. Mark Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home.
