MORLEY -- Funeral service for Mathis Copeland of Morley will be held at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Charles Warren will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Copeland, 77, died Thursday, April 25, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born March 4, 1919, in Monroe County, Miss., son of Jefferson and Ida Mae Bloom Copeland. He and Josie Dodd White were married in 1941.
Copeland had been a farm laborer with J.C. Phillips. He was a member of Greater Works of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Mathis Copeland Jr. of Kewanee, Joe Copeland of Dexter, Richardson, Jim Copeland Sr. and James Coplin of Morley, Sonny Copeland of Cline's Island, Bruster Copeland of Sikeston; a stepson, Joe White Jr. of Sikeston; a brother, George Coplin of Aberdeen, Miss.; three sisters, Isabell Dodd of Sikeston, Maggie Renfro of Amory, Miss., Martha Lewis of Bristol, Tenn.; 35 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
