Marye S. Rhodes, 78, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, May 24, 1991, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
She was born Nov. 6, 1912, at Gravel Hill, daughter of William and Lou Jones Mabrey. She married Cecil Rhodes July 24, 1935, in Jonesboro, Ill. He died July 31, 1970.
Rhodes moved to Cape in 1918 from Gravel Hill, and was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.
She taught school at Delta and in other Southeast Missouri towns for 15 years, and then worked at Cape Girardeau County Family Services 20 years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and its Kumjoynus Class.
Survivors include two sons, Rexford Rhodes of Schaumberg, Ill., Donald Rhodes of Bismarck; two grandchildren, Birkely Rhodes and Jill Kiley of Schaumberg, and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Neil Stein will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. today.
