Marybelle A. Grossheider passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the age of 83. A lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau County, she resided in her home on Route W before moving to the Lutheran Home three years ago. She was born Oct. 15, 1919, to John and Alma Job Schulte. She married Robert Grossheider April 28, 1945. He preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1995...

Marybelle A. Grossheider passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the age of 83.

A lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau County, she resided in her home on Route W before moving to the Lutheran Home three years ago.

She was born Oct. 15, 1919, to John and Alma Job Schulte. She married Robert Grossheider April 28, 1945. He preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1995.

She is survived by her children, R.C. (Karen) Grossheider of Cokato, Minn., Jody (Henry) Neufeld of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren, Gail (Troy) Olson, Julie (Kyle) Schmidt, Janet (Chris) Lister, John and James Webb; and six great-grandchildren, Haley, Alex, Samantha, Adam, Seth and Anna.

Survivors also include a brother, Leo (Sarah) Schulte of Jackson; a sister, Helen (Pete) Jones of Gulfport, Miss.; a sister-in-law, Anita Schulte of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Bob Friedrich of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John Schulte, and a sister, Pat Friedrich.

Marybelle was known for her ready smile and her constant optimism. She found enjoyment in walking outdoors, working in her garden, reading, visiting with family and friends, and doing needlework projects.

She was a member of the St. Vincent Quilting Group and Women's Council. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.

Visitation will be at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Scott Sunnenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Home.
