SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mary Margaret Story Yarbrough, 25, of Sikeston died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born June 17, 1980, in Sikeston, daughter of Ernest E. "Pete" and Sara Margaret Sutherland Story. She and William Harold "Will" Yarbrough II were married May 17, 2003.
Mary Margaret grew up in Charleston, Mo., where she was confirmed in the United Meth-odist Church, participated in Girl Scouts, and was the first girl to play in the Charleston Little League football program.
A 1998 graduate of Charleston High School, she was a member of the girls tennis, softball and basketball teams, quarterback of the Powder Puff football team, Foreign Language Club, Science Club, Business Club, Future Farmers of America, National Honor Society, participated in CHS drama productions and was chosen football homecoming attendant.
She attended the University of Mississippi and Southeast Missouri State University prior to her enrollment at John A. Gupton College in Nashville, Tenn.
In December 2001 she graduated with a degree in mortuary science, fulfilling her desire since age 10 of becoming a funeral professional. She completed her funeral service internship in December 2002 at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, and completed the licensing requirements for Missouri Funeral Director and Embalmer.
She remained employed with McMikle Funeral Home and had recently been elected as secretary/treasurer of the SEMO Funeral Directors Association. She was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, Sikeston Bunco Club, Charleston Junior Study Club, and assisted with Susanna Wesley Family Learning Center fundraising.
Survivors include her husband; her parents of Charleston; a brother and sister-in-law, George Russell "Buck" and Andrea Story of Charleston; a nephew, George Marshall story, and a niece, Cary-McClure Story, both of Charles-ton.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, George G. and Eleanor McClure Story, and maternal grandparents, Frank Russell and Daisy Barfield Sutherland.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home after 5 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Charleston United Methodist Church. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Holt Dugan, Boothe Dugan, Hetherington Story, Don Bewley, Ryan Collins and Matt Johnson.
