Mary Whitney

ANNA, Ill. -- Mary B. Whitney, 86, of Anna died Friday, April 4, 2003, at Union County Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 15, 1916, at Anna, daughter of Dee and Vica Young Brimm. She and Leon Whitney were married Nov. 7, 1942. He died Nov. 16, 1972.

Whitney was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the First Baptist Church. She was city clerk for the city of Anna for 28 years before retiring.

Survivors include three sisters, Adonis Watson of Springfield, Ill., Eleanor Ketchie of North Charleston, S.C., and Virginia Miles of Collinsville, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and on Tuesday before services.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tim Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
