MARY WARD

OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Graveside service for Mary Evelyn Ward of Olive Branch will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens near Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Verlee Eaker will officiate.

Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms from 8-11:30 a.m. today.

Ward, 80, died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

She was born April 3, 1917, in Alexander County, daughter of Holly and Altha Lawrence Powless. She married Fred V. Ward, who died Feb. 13, 1985.

Ward moved to Olive Branch from Mt. Vernon. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, but attended Lake Milligan Baptist Church at Miller City.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Mendenhall of Olive Branch; two sisters, Goldie McCullough of Olive Branch, Delores Howard of Mt. Vernon; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
