MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Mary Lou Wagley, 84, of Matthews died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
She was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Albertsville, Ala., daughter of Walter N. and Nora Curtis Jackson. She and Ardith W. Wagley were married Feb. 14, 1935, in Lilbourn, Mo. He died Sept. 27, 1986.
Wagley was a licensed practical nurse 18 years at Missouri Delta Medical Center and at various nursing homes.
She served two terms as mayor of Matthews during the late 1970s and 1980s. She was a member of Matthews Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Neal Wagley of Sikeston, Gary Wagley of New Madrid, Mo.; two daughters, Wanda Raper of Sikeston, Donna Walker of Raytown, Mo.; a sister, Nova Williams of Bertrand, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter.
Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Pat Hogan and Jimmy Colvett will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
