Mary O. "Lucille" Voorhes, 67, of Jackson passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Mary was born Sept. 17, 1939, in Natchez, Miss., daughter of James E. and Irene Hockersmith Phipps. She and Wayne Curtis Voorhes were married June 11, 1960, in Scott City. He died Feb. 20, 2000.
She was a 1958 graduate of Scott City High School. She worked for the former Cape Bus Line, was manager of Dollar General Store in Jackson for 25 years, and worked for Corporate Bank Transit as a bank currier for the past five years.
Mary was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Loving survivors include a son, Wayne (Jennifer) Voorhes of Fruitland; her mother of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Margaret Beauregard of Simmesport, La., Barbara (Herb) Lichtenegger of Jackson; and three grandchildren, Alex, Steven, and Ashley Voorhes of Fruitland.
She was preceded in death by her father, a daughter and a brother.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
