Mary Sparks

Mary Rains Sparks, 59, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at her home.

She was born Jan. 23, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, to Milo S. and Florence A. Blackwell Rains. She and Gary E. Sparks were married April 10, 1999, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death March 25, 2006.

Mary was of the Pentecostal belief.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Heffner and Joy Maglone of Cape Girardeau; two stepsons, Gary Sparks Jr. of Cape Girardeau and Mark Sparks of Anna, Ill.; a brother, Arthur "Bud" Burton of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Becky Rains and Linda Pulliam of Cape Girardeau and Florence Arriola of Santa Ynez, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Paul, Samuel and Milo "Sonny" Rains; and a sister, Lillian Brown.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Respondek officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
