CAIRO, Ill. -- Mary Smith, 71, of Cairo died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 21, 1929, in Sheffield, Ala., daughter of William A. and Lena McGee Ryan.
She and Garfield Smith were married. He died in 1986.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Cairo, where she served on the church board and was a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Laird and Kathy Munsell of Cairo; four sons, James Smith of Olmsted, Kenny Smith Sr. of Mounds, John Smith of Gravois Mills, Mo., and Robert Smith of Karnak; a sister, Thelma "Chris" Morgan of Memphis, Tenn., 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and a granddaughter.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Assembly of God Church in Cairo.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Wilma Williams officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery in Olive Branch.
Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
