MARY PRESTON

PERRYVILLE -- Mary E. Preston, 73, of Perryville died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Dongola, Ill., daughter of Toney and Carrie Swink Gurley. She and Carl H. Preston were married April 28, 1945. He died March 22, 1984.

Preston helped her husband in farming. She was a member of Lithium Baptist Church, and Women's Missionary Union at First Baptist Church. She had been a volunteer at Perry County Nursing Home, Perry Oaks, Gracemont and Peaceful Valley Camp.

Survivors include two sons, Ray Preston of Jackson, Darrell Preston of Perryville; a daughter, Phyllis Schott of Perryville; a brother, Carlos Gurley of Madisonville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and eight great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and a granddaughter.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. today, and Saturday from 6:30-9 a.m.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lithium Church. The Revs. Gerald McBride and Al Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Home Cemetery.
