Mary Louise Hoefer Nenninger, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born July 17, 1923, in Doniphan, Missouri, to Carl Louis and Masie Marjorie Turner Hoefer. She and Bernard H. Nenninger were married May 17, 1948, in Cape Girardeau.
She was a graduate of Doniphan High School. She moved to Cape Girardeau and worked at J.C. Penney, Walgreen Drug (Broadway store) and retired from Southeast Missouri State University in 1991.
She was a member of First General Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Paul (Marilyn) Nenninger of Cape Girardeau, Mark (Kate) Nenninger of Davenport, Iowa, Charles (Karen) Nenninger of Marshall, Texas, and Dale Nenninger of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Amie (Bill) Nenninger-Hines, Ryan (Susan) Nenninger, Jackie (Adam) Harman, Jared (Caroline) Nenninger and Emily (Cody) Still; great-grandchildren, Beckett and Thea Nenninger-Hines of San Francisco, Olivia and Elliot Nenninger of Iowa City, Iowa, Wyatt and Lillie Harman of Marshall and Hoy Nenninger of Wapanucka, Oklahoma; sisters, Martha Hoefer and Shirley Whitelock, both of Eureka, Missouri, and Rose Smith of Springfield, Illinois; brothers, Jack (Lee) Hoefer of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Joe Hoefer of Doniphan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sisters, Frances Hoefer Tooke, Betty J. Hoefer and Marjorie Hoefer Thompson.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Sam Ramdial and Jim Rudolph officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Hospice, First General Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
