PACIFIC, Mo. -- Mary Jo Mullinax, 86, of Pacific, formerly of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020, in St. Louis.
She was born July 1, 1933, in Mount Vernon to the late Vance Sr. and Lucy Brookman Skinner. Mary married William "Junior" A. Mullinax on March 20, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas. They were blessed with 42 years of marriage before he preceded her in death April 7, 1992.
Mary is survived by her children, Thomas Mullinax and wife, Diane, of Pacific and Lucinda Thornton of St. Louis; grandchildren, Joseph Thornton, Alanna Thornton, John Mullinax, Tim Mullinax and Kelli Mullinax; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, the Rev. Thomas Skinner and wife, Linda, of Charleston, Illinois, Janet Fernadez of Yuma, Arkansas, Sally Mays and husband, Donald, of Mount Vernon, Pat Williams and husband, John, of Utica, Illinois, and Ruth Ann Cummings of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings Jesse Clark, William Skinner and Vance Skinner Jr.; and son-in-law, William Thornton.
Mary worked for many years as the human resources administrator for Kaydon Manufacturing in Fenton, Missouri. She was a volunteer at Tri-County Senior Center and was an active member of Pacific United Methodist Church. Mary was an avid gardener and a devoted grandmother. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and adored her.
A private graveside service will be held at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Thomas Skinner officiating.
Memorials may be made in Mary's honor to the American Cancer Society.
