Mary Meier

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Mary E. Meier, 92, of Perryville died Monday, July 2, 2012, at Independence Care Center of Perry County.

She was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Perry County, daughter of David Walker and Della Burns Norrington. She and Vallie M. Meier were married Nov. 6, 1937. He preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1989.

Meier was a nurses aide at Perry County Memorial Hospital for a short time, and retired from the fitting department at International Shoe Co. She was a member of United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and American Legion Post 133 Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Paul (Dora) Meier of Licking, Mo., William (Kathleen) Meier of Millville, Calif.; two daughters, Edna (Jon) Cox of Pinson, Ala., Valeta "Fay" (Michael) Creason of Rock Hill, Mo.; four grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Virgil, Harvey and John Norrington; four sisters, Edna Norrington, Hazel Warren, Francis Norrington and Ethel Burton.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at United Methodist Church in Perryville.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Don Kuehle officiating. Burial will be in York Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to United Methodist Church.
