Mary Lou Sinn King, 64 years of age of 3125 Mimosa, Cape Girardeau, MO passed away Monday, November 23, 1998 at her home. Born Sept. 14, 1934 in rural Cape Girardeau (Hobbs Chapel Community), daughter of Robert C. and Helen I. Steeg Sinn.
As a girl, Mary Lou lived with her family on a farm in rural Cape Girardeau. She attended Brooks School, Trinity Lutheran School and was confirmed April 25, 1948, then graduated May 19, 1948. She attended University High and then Central High School, where she graduated May 22, 1952. On Sept. 4, 1955 she received her R.N. from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO.She married Robert N. King of St. Louis, MO on April 21, 1956. During the course of her career, she worked as an R.N. for Missouri Pacific Hospital in St. Louis, Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was a superintendent of the Pediatrics at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Later at Staunton Memorial Hospital in Staunton, IL where she became the hospital administrator.
In 1971 after relocating to Cape Girardeau she worked a short term for St. Francis Medical Center, then for 14 years with Cardiovascular Consultants. Then worked in the emergency department at Southeast Missouri Hospital and Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, MO and finally in the Surgery Department at Southeast Missouri Hospital until her early retirement in February 1998 due to illness.
Mary Lou was a long time Bingo player in various Bingo establishments and thoroughly enjoyed the people she played with.
Member of Hanover Lutheran Church, MO State Association of Nursing, and Cape Girardeau Executive Club.
Survivors include 2 daughters; Penny Parrott, Jackson, MO; Sheila Gross, Gordonville, MO; Mother, Helen Sinn of Cape Girardeau, MO; 1 sister; Schirley Jo Huey, Egypt Mills, MO; 4 brothers; Carl Lee Sinn, Egypt, Mills, MO, James R. Sinn, Egypt Mills, MO, Robert C. Sinn, Jr., Egypt Mills, MO, and Harold W. Sinn, Defiance, MO. 2 Granddaughters; Casey Parrott and Ashley King; 2 grandsons; Doug and Marcus Gross.
Her father and 1 son, Robert N. King, II preceded her in death. Visitation at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel Wed., Nov. 25, 1998 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Friday, Nov. 27, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Jeffrey Sippy officiating. Burial at Hobbs Chapel Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, MO.Memorials can be made to the Heart Association, Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation or the memorial of your choice.
