CHESTER, Ill. -- Mary Limbaugh, 96, of Chester passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019, at her home. She was born to the late John Bay and Mary Segius Thomson Heagler on Nov. 5, 1922, in Paragould, Arkansas. Mary married Manley O. Limbaugh on Feb. 26, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, and he preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2018...

CHESTER, Ill. -- Mary Limbaugh, 96, of Chester passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019, at her home.

She was born to the late John Bay and Mary Segius Thomson Heagler on Nov. 5, 1922, in Paragould, Arkansas. Mary married Manley O. Limbaugh on Feb. 26, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, and he preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2018.

She was a special education teacher at Chester Grade School for two years, Willisville Grade School for one year and Coulterville Grade School for 28 years, until her retirement.

She was a legacy member of First United Methodist Church in Chester. Mary was active in United Methodist Women, where she served in all office capacities as well as being a district shepherdess and was the head of the kitchen committee for many years. She was also active in the Wesleyan Service Guild and taught Sunday school for many years.

Mary was a member of Chester Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered in the gift shop as well as delivering Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Chester Women's Club, Red Hat Society and Western Egyptian Volunteer Program and was honored, along with her husband, as Citizen of the Year in 1995. Mary was an excellent seamstress and loved to cook.

Survivors include four children, John (Cindy) Limbaugh of Germantown, Tennessee, Dan (Paulette) Limbaugh of St. Louis, Bob (Cathie) Limbaugh of St. Charles, Missouri, and Patti (Bill) Nanney of Chester; son-in-law, Tim Mathias of Glen Carbon, Illinois; brother, Richard (Janace) Heagler of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Mary Bee Mathias; three brothers, William, John and Robert Heagler; and sister, Martha Goree.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Faye Edmiaston officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.

Memorials may be give to First United Methodist Church in Chester.
