MARY L. PENICK

CAIRO, Ill. -- Mary L. Penick, 93, of Cairo died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo.

She was born Oct. 27, 1905, at Chicago, daughter of Percy and Lillian Hinds Tallman. She and Dan Penick were married. He preceded her in death.

Penick had formerly lived in Chicago and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and the Arden Shore Club and Sunset Ridge Club of Chicago.

Survivors include a son, John C. "Jack" Tallman of Cairo, a stepdaughter, Pat Smaha of Glen View, Ill.; a stepson, William Penick of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating. Private burial will be in Brownswood Cemetery at Hinsdale.
