CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. -- Mary W. Kirkland, 84, of Crystal City passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Festus, Missouri.
She was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of the late Morris John and Georgia Edith Farris Witting.
Mary was a member of First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City for 51 years, where she sang with the choir, organized vacation bible school, quilted and enjoyed many other church activities. Mary was a devoted and outgoing sister, wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed traveling and doing anything with her family.
Mary is survived by her sons, Philip (Kathy) Kirkland of Crystal City and Alan (Heather) Kirkland of Festus; sister, Pat (the late Richard) Wilson of Kirkwood, Missouri; grandchildren, Anna (Jeffrey) Littrell, Caroline Kirkland and Wesley Kirkland; and great-grandchildren, Marcella, Vera and Lane Joseph Littrell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harrell Eugene Kirkland, and a sister, Betty (the late Rod) Herman.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Thomas Worsham of First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Memorials in Mary's memory are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
